The Seek Project

There is so much power and talent bursting from these pages I don't even know where to start. I found it so impossible to chose an image to use for this post but here goes anyway.

The Seek Project
covers area such as Print Media, Illustration, Murals, Logos, Apparel and even Footwear and is manned by Karo Akopkiere. I became an instant fan! I was even more excited when I learnt that this unbelieavably talented person was a fellow Nigerian born and bred!

Okay, I will stop gushing now. I am not going to get too wordy. Go and feast your eyes!

Etsy Find: Vees

This was love at first site. Hand-dyed and hand-painted. This absolutely gorgeous dress by vees is available on Etsy. What is even more exciting is that this piece of art can be made for you in various colour combinations of your choice with a palette to choose from.

I'll be saving up for this one.

Have a great weekend!

Lemi Ghariokwu- Fela album covers

This is the work of the artist behind the iconic Fela Kuti album artwork- Lemi Ghariokwu. The album covers where and still are as distinct and recognisable as the phenomenal Afrobeat music they 'clothed'.

So colourful, vibrant, unapologetic. Masters at work indeed! If you can, go and see the Fela! broadway show, showing in London at the National Theatre from next month.

A. Olaku

I guess I was born an artist, because looking back in time, drawing had always been
one of the things i could do intuitively and effortlessly...
In my effort to leave my own creative prints in the sands of time, i have drawn
and painted innocently and unpretentiously.

Abiodun Olaku

My dad bought a few pieces of artwork quite a number of years ago and I became a fan of a Nigerian artist called Abiodun Olaku. There is a certain 'silence' which I like about the work. I know that may not make much sense but to me it does.

A lot of the pieces capture so much about certain aspects of life in Nigeria you can almost hear and smell the reality. One of my favourites is one of a street scene just after it has rained, twinkling light reflected off the rain puddles. Beautiful!

Have a look at his online gallery www.abiodunolaku.com

Free Your Soul- Free art project

I really like the idea of this project. Free Art. Cool right? The idea is simple, you can download a pdf of a piece of art for free. You can print it out at home and put it on your desk, fridge, wall. Anywhere really. Artists can get in touch with Jen Wallace of IndieFixx to have their work as part of the project. New artists are featured monthly.

This piece is my current favourite and is by K.Smith who has a very eye-catching store on etsy called Unconventional Ida. You can find so many more of her interesting characters there. I may be wrong but I believe the original would have been painted on wood.

Please go to Free Your Soul for some interesting art or if you want more information about the project.
